Norman Lebrecht goes on another tirade against the Vienna Philharmonic

Sigh. British music columnist Norman Lebrecht has developed a reputation for bashing great musicians, and he's published rants against the Vienna Philharmonic multiple times. He finds it troubling that the orchestra is over 90% male, arguing that the orchestra is discriminating against women. He seems unable to look at a great cultural institution without finding some argument to make against it.

But his latest article is especially intolerable. Does Lebrecht realize that Nazi Germany ended 70 years ago? Apparently not. Many music lover are getting ready to enjoy the famous Vienna New Year's Concert. But Lebrehct?  "The tradition, however, is decidedly pernicious. This concert came into being as a gift to Nazi criminals, a cover for genocide."

Really? Must we stoop to new lows? The Vienna Philharmonic is continuing a tradition of greatness, and the individuality of their sound places them right up with the Berlin Philharmonic. Their past is their past, and it's shameful to continue to highlight it when no one around today bears any responsibility for the Nazi tragedy.

  1. The time has come for those whom Lebrecht has defamed - the VPO, Anna Netrebko, Valery Gergiev, and many more - to take legal action to have his site taken down permanently.

Lebrecht is a poisonous windbag, whose career as a trash-talking pundit on BBC R3 ended abruptly when he was fired by the channel several years ago. His career has never recovered from the allegedly "substantial" damages awarded against him when he was sued for libel by Naxos records.

Evidently, the only way of silencing this loathsome bedbug is to sue him again.

  2. The latest outburst from this vile oaf Lebrecht is a takedown of the career of Elena Obrazstova - on the day of her funeral in Moscow.

For sheer sadism, tactlessness, bigotry, and grotesque brutality, this filthy cockroach Lebrecht really has no equal.

Nor does his faithful Watson, William Osborne - who cheers along with everything Norm spouts.

  3. Some good news at last about Slipped Disc!

As I forecast above, legal action against Lebrecht's libels has begun. Yesterday Lebrecht was compelled to withdraw a series of defamatory claims aimed at artistes - primarily Russian artistes - engaged for the upcoming season at the Metropolitan Opera.

Of course, this is not the first time the loathsome Lebrecht has been successfully sued for his vicious lies. Readers will remember that he was put out of business for a while when a record company he had libelled sued him for record damages.

The message is clear. If you find yourself defamed by this notorious online thug Lebrecht, go straight to a lawyer and have them take out a Cease & Desist Action against him.

Don't agonise. Don't let this repulsive reptile ruin your life, or disturb your rehearsal schedule. He is an ignorant fool with no knowledge of music at all. Don't reply to his garbage - GO STRAIGHT FOR IMMEDIATE LEGAL REMEDY.

If we work together, we can get this crook off the internet entirely.
